Europe has three major linguistic groups: Romance, Germanic and Slavic. Between the families, there are "bridge languages".

IC is treated as a way to open linguistic horizons and awaken curiosity to other languages.
IC is seen as a starting point for the acquisition of the languages involved in IC practice.
